Government Funding for Small Businesses

Entrepreneurs may now receive loans of up to $100,000 from the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC)’s new venture capital program. Specifically directed at new businesses then Co-Vision program provides loans that can be repaid over a period of up to six years. You may also be able to postpone your principle payments for 12 months.

Straight from the BDC: “The Co-Vision business solution specifically targets businesses in the manufacturing, distribution, services and tourism sectors. It can be used to finance various types of projects such as working capital, acquisitions, fixed assets, marketing and start-up costs, or the purchase of a franchise. Co-Vision loans can also be combined, if need be, with consulting services delivered by the BDC Consulting Group.

“This new business solution was designed for companies in the start-up early growth phase that can demonstrate realistic market and sales potential for their products or services. Different criteria, such as the entrepreneur’s relevant experience and knowledge of the chosen business sector, the management team, the investment of reasonable financial resources, and personal and financial references, are also taken into consideration when evaluation the application.”
