An Alberta childcare agency has received a $64,883 "non-repayable amount" — or grant — from the federal government to hire employees.  The money is targeted to provide sustainable employment for youth through the Urban Aboriginal Strategy. The Jan Pat Management Organization, Inc. was started by Janet Schimmel, who has been involved in programs for families since the early 70s.  She worked for Alberta Family and Social Services in Child Welfare and Daycare Programs until 1986, when she started Jan Pat Family Dayhomes in Calgary. The Jan Pat Dayhome Program has been available to parents requiring childcare services since 1986. The company provides dayhomes, nanny in-home care, respite care for children with special needs, and additional services including home monitoring, home assessments, parenting programs and more.
